Modigliani Self Portraits

On Friday 13th February, Mrs Spragg and her year 4's had a camp meeting with Mr Matthews and Kauri so Matai hosted some extra students for part of the day.  These students were the students in Totara not attending camp this week.

Miss Carr introduced us to a famous artist from Italy called Modigliani.  His portraits were unique because of their elongated faces and necks.

Miss Carr talked us through an example which she did of herself before it was our turn.  We learnt how to fold the paper to help us with the proportions.  We had to do lots of practice on white paper before Miss Carr would let us do our final work on black paper with oil pastels.

Our finished works are pretty spectacular and they are now proudly on display in the Library.  Mrs Manton was so impressed with our work, she had to come into class and see us this morning to congratulate us on our outstanding work!

Make sure you pop into the library to check it out for yourself!

    1. Hi Catie,
I wish you were there too. It really was a fun art lesson. If you would like me to explain how we did these portraits so you can do one of your own at home, feel free to come and ask.
      Miss Carr
